Received my copy of the album in the post today. Excellent album. Already a classic to fit right in with the collection of Fratelli greatness. I'm totally digging the daddy wont pay your bill track. Lyrics seem strikingly provoking and deep. heck, it's all great! Aeroplanes was an amazing surprise too. Very well done. I also bought the Domingo EP to match. Beautiful Great Jon. Kudos and etc. Now immortalised forever in my iTunes. Just saying thanks for your amazing work. Has seen me through the highs and lows.

Just wondered if their was any news on the new album?, Jon still working hard finalising things probably, perfectionist to the end!

Did try to record some sounds of my town, but they were pretty rubbish so gave up in the end!. Hopefully wont be too long before we hear the new tunes! xx

Political Scandals?

Living in New York (in one of the districts that Anthony Weiner - the guy who managed to tweet inappropriate and sexually explicit pictures of himself to the whole world by accident), I am not a foreigner to sexual scandals (a few years back, we also had the Governor of New York involved in a major sexual scandal). I was just wondering (and it's partly for a paper I'm writing, as well) if there are any sexual (or of other nature) scandals happening right now in Europe. More specifically, around the UK side of things. It's preferred if said scandal is completely and hilariously ironic. Kind of like Anthony Weiner being a really HIP representative, being really active on Facebook and Twitter and then not knowing the difference between PRIVATE MESSAGE and PUBLIC REPLY.

really looking forward to Jons new album, been a massive fan of the his ever since i first heard the Fratellis play a gig locally before they became huge , used to be on the Fratelli forum as marktheknife, dissapeared when it all got a bit fighty and bitchy :P followed Jons career ever since that gig though and have kept doing so through CVC and onto the solo stuff, love what i've heard so far and really looking forward to Psycho Jukebox...so yeah, hello everyone and hiya again Jon

Just got back from the Hotel Cafe show, and I gotta say it was incredible! This was the first time I've seen Jon live, and it was totally worth flying to LA from Florida! Not only did I get to witness Jon's brilliance in person (including a fantastic rendition of 3 Skinny Girls), but I also got to meet some really cool people. There were seven of us that got to the venue pretty early (I didn't catch everyone's name, but I wanna say thanks to Brandon and Brian for the drinks, I owe you).

The show was great; Jon played about 10 songs. And after the show we got to hang out with Jon for over an hour.

Thanks, Jon, for a great experience! They say you never forget your first time, I just hope it isn't my last.

Old School Songwriting, Modern Production?

Listening to Jon's music and comparing it with the other songs on my iPod, I realized that Jon follows a very old school type of songwriting. I doubt that it's intentional and more just natural because of his influences but it's very noticeable. His lyrics just sound different. They remind me of 70's type rock n roll lyrics which, you know, is fantastic. But I feel like the production of his songs a lot of the time do them a bit of injustice and this is part of the ONLY criticism I had of Psycho Jukebox. A lot of the time, the production got in the way of the actual music in my mind. For example, I thought the acoustic version of Cavemen is absolutely beautiful because it glides along and his voice just rips through but the album version is very funky and while it's good, it's not very different from Oh, Shangri La to me. I noticed this because I recently heard Dead Radio again and I think that it hits every mark perfectly. It seems to me that it would have been a classic had it been released some time in the late 60's-70's. I also always felt like this about Bonnie & Clyde which I think is his best sounding song because it's very stripped down of effects. It's very acoustic and even has a 70's Southern Rock acoustic guitar slide twang to it. It almost sounds like a cover of a Creedence Clearwater Revival song.

I mean, it's his style and I think it's still great and better than anything else I hear, I just wanted to know your opinion.

This might not go down too well here, but here we go....

Is there anyone out there who could find it in their heart to share the elusive studio version of Aeroplanes with a beggar like me? It has become an obsession and I kick myself every day for buying the Scottish CD instead of the itunes pre-order.

If there is anything I can give in return I will. I have a couple of songs off the "old solo album" and some rare fratellis stuff.

Please don't think less of me for asking, I'm just a big fan that made the wrong choice when buying the CD .

wouldnt it be a great idea to have a wee get together of some sort for the forum fans, to get a sneaky preview! Yeah bloody cheeky of me i know

but hey its nearly christmas and i cant think of a better prezzie, plus any chance of seeing and hearing the the great mans work is going to make us

fans sooooo happy!! Soundcloud is fabulous, but be a great chance to meet up with the forumers and Jon too of course!!...... Come on shorty jump on it!! ..........:))xx

Anyone in Newcastle?

Hello dear forum users, I was just wondering if there was anyone in the Newcastle upon Tyne area. With all respect to my friends, I do feel as though my social life is being based on convenience rather than actual enjoyment and mutual interests at the moment. With that in mind and bearing I am currently 26 hours without sleep, an idea popped into my head while listening to some of Jon before that maybe it would make sense to try and meet some people with a similar taste in music.

This may be an absolutely crap idea that won't even get a response but hopefully a few people can get something from it. I was thinking if anyone wanted to meet up before a gig (any gig, I don't mind) at The Cluny in Newcastle it would be cool to meet some new people with a good taste in music!

If anyone's interested just reply and we can think about it a bit more seriously. For now it is just an idea!
